National Safety Council Statement on Elaine Chao’s Confirmation as Secretary of Transportation

Secretary Chao's leadership will be critical in the fight to end roadway deaths

Itasca, IL – The National Safety Council congratulates Elaine Chao on her confirmation as Secretary of Transportation. As motor vehicle deaths continue to climb, it is vital to have leadership that understands proven prevention strategies and embraces promising innovation and technology. Secretary Chao will provide that leadership. We look forward to working closely with her to eliminate preventable deaths and make our roads safer.
