At Work At Home On the Road

Erik Spurling

Senior Director, Relationship Management

  • As senior director of relationship management, Erik Spurling has direct responsibility for five functional groups at the National Safety Council. His scope of responsibility includes forward facing Council activities, including corporate safety solutions, inside sales, customers service/order entry and the training center groups.

Mr. Spurling began his NSC career in June 2016 after a long and successful career in the private sector with large, publicly traded organizations such as W.W. Grainger and Kuriyama. Mr. Spurling brings more than 25 years of senior level management, global sales and marketing, and strong international expertise in the fields of distribution and purchasing.

He also has a unique passion for his role at NSC after experiencing a near fatal automobile crash in 2012. While traveling for business in Lexington, KY, a driver who was texting crossed the center median and hit the car Mr. Spurling was a passenger in head-on. The incident shaped the direction of Mr. Spurling's personal and professional life from that moment on, and ultimately lead him to work and live out his passion for safety at NSC.

Mr. Spurling is a lifelong native of the Chicago area and attended Northern Illinois University. He lives in the northwest suburbs, serves on local boards and is an active volunteer for many causes in his community.
