Itasca, IL – The National Safety Council recently recognized AMECO with multiple awards in occupational safety. Most prominently, AMECO received the Council’s Industry Leader Award for achieving the best performance – lowest total incidence rating – based on lost workday cases in their NAICS code of construction, mining, forestry machinery, and equipment leasing and rental.

In fact, our membership is a leading indicator of our success,” said Gary Bernardez, AMECO president. “By presenting AMECO with the Industry Leader Award, the National Safety Council not only highlights our global commitment to safety but also recognizes our performance. This award emphasizes the importance of our inherent safety values and will aid in strengthening our 2012 safety goals -- to achieve ZERO Incidents,” said Bernardez.
The Industry Leader is one component of the NSC Occupational Awards Program, which judges members for their overall safety performance throughout the year. NSC has more than 51,000 member including businesses, labor organizations, schools, public agencies, private groups and individuals.
In addition to the Industry Leader Award, AMECO also received the following NSC awards:
Occupational Excellence Achievement Award – for reporting injuries and illnesses involving days away from work less than 50% of the BLS rate and no fatalities
Perfect Record Award – for achieving at least 12 consecutive months without an occupational injury or illness resulting in days from work or death
Million Work Hours Award – for more than one million hours without an injury or illness resulting in days away from work or death
Safety Leadership Award – for more than five consecutive years of receiving the Perfect Record Award
Superior Safety Performance Award – for zero fatalities, injuries, or illnesses that involved a day away from work during a consecutive ten year period
AMECO operations recognized with these awards included locations in: Greenville, South Carolina; Borger, Texas; Houston, Texas; and Tyler, Texas.
