National Safety Council Announces 2014 CEOs Who ‘Get It’
Leaders recognized for dedication to safety excellence

Itasca, IL – The National Safety Council has announced the 2014 CEOs Who “Get It,” its annual recognition of leaders who demonstrate world-class safety. Each of these leaders understands the value of a safe workplace, and ensures employees at all levels keep safety in the forefront.

The Council studies successful organizations, such as those of the CEOs Who “Get It,” and has found four common elements: committed leadership and employee engagement, sound safety procedures, continuous risk reduction, and measuring and improving performance. These four factors form the basis of the Council’s Journey to Safety Excellence approach—a constant quest to drive workplace injuries and deaths to zero.

“The Council is honored to recognize such strong examples of safety leadership in this year’s group of CEOs Who ‘Get It,’” said Jim Johnson, vice president, workplace safety initiatives. “We hope other leaders follow suit with a steadfast dedication to the Journey.”

This year’s roster of 10 individuals represents national and multinational organizations of all varieties and sizes. Profiles of the CEOs Who “Get It” will be featured in the February 2014 issue of Safety+Health magazine.
