Orlando – The National Safety Council today announced Exxon Mobil Corporation
is the recipient of the 2013 Green Cross for Safety medal for its comprehensive
commitment to safety excellence. Presented annually, the Green Cross for Safety
medal is given by NSC to an organization that has distinguished itself over a
period of years for outstanding achievements in workplace safety, community
service, environmental stewardship and responsible citizenship.
“We
are honored to receive this distinguished award from the National Safety
Council,” said Rex W. Tillerson, ExxonMobil chairman and chief executive
officer. “ExxonMobil is committed to conducting business in a manner that
protects and promotes the safety and health of our employees, those involved
with our operations, and the communities where we work.”
ExxonMobil is being recognized for its steadfast
commitment to excellence in safety, security, health and environmental
performance. It believes the best way to meet this commitment is through a
capable, committed workforce as well as practices designed to enable safe,
secure and environmentally-responsible operations. ExxonMobil accomplishes this
through clearly defined policies and practices, and with rigorously applied
management systems designed to deliver expected results. It remains steadfast
in its goal that “Nobody Gets Hurt.”
“Honoring ExxonMobil with the Green Cross for Safety medal is a
pleasure,” said Janet Froetscher,
president and CEO of the National Safety Council. “It is apparent that safety
is more than a priority at ExxonMobil and is instead a value that guides every level
of the organization on its Journey to Safety Excellence.”
The announcement was made during the Opening Session of the 2012
NSC Congress & Expo in Orlando – the
largest annual gathering of safety professionals. The medal will be officially
presented to ExxonMobil at the Green Cross for
Safety dinner in early April 2013 in Houston.
