NSC Recognizes AMECO’s Commitment to Workplace Safety
AMECO Achieves 30 Million Work Hours Without Lost Workday Occupational Injury or Illness

Itasca, IL – The National Safety Council today awarded AMECO Worldwide Operations its Million Work Hours Award. AMECO has achieved 30 million work hours and 9 consecutive years without a lost workday injury or illness.

Workplace injuries have a direct impact on employees, organizations and the economy. In 2008, more than 3.2 million disabling injuries occurred in the workplace, with more than 1 million of these injuries involving days away from work. Every year, work injuries cost the nation an estimated $183 billion.

“We are delighted to recognize AMECO’s outstanding achievement,” said Janet Froetscher, NSC president and CEO. “Since March 2001, AMECO has operated without a lost workday injury or illness and continues this record today. This remarkable achievement is testament to AMECO’s safety leadership and its employees’ dedication to instill a strong corporate safety culture.”

“An important part of AMECO’s success is effectively operating inside the gate at construction sites and operating plants around the world. Our clients expect world-class safety performance as part of our integrated equipment and tool solutions,” said Gary Bernardez, AMECO president. “This milestone demonstrates our commitment to safety and the importance we place on keeping our employees, customers and suppliers safe.”
