The Safe Teen and Novice Driver Uniform Protection (STANDUP) Act was recently introduced in Congress by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and Representatives Tim Bishop (D-NY) and Randy Hultgren (R-IL) to encourage states to adopt Graduated Driver Licensing laws that meet specific teen driving minimum requirements.
NSC supports this legislation and encourages others to reach out to their federal legislators to urge them to cosponsor this important bill. Contact your representatives in the House and Senate on their website and submit the text of the appropriate letter found below in the contact form. If your House member or Senator is one of the three lead sponsors mentioned above, please send them a thank you letter instead.
If you are able to, please customize the letter with a personal plea or story—adding a personal touch to the letter adds weight to the issue. Please send a copy of any response you receive to your letter to Chloé White, NSC Government Affairs Assistant.
