The Transportation Division held their Capitol Hill Day on
Wednesday, March 6. Following a morning advocacy training
session conducted by NSC staff, Division members met as a group with House Transportation
and Infrastructure Committee Staff Director, Jim Tymon. Tymon discussed the
committee’s priorities in the new Congress and took questions from the group
regarding an array of transportation safety issues.
In the afternoon, Division members met with their own
members of Congress and their staff to discuss the need to fully fund the graduated driver licensing
and distracted driving incentive grant programs in the upcoming continuing
resolution. They also discussed Council priorities in the next highway bill that Congress will
take up next year.
