2016 Green Cross for Safety Gala
The Green Cross for Safety® awards, presented by the National Safety Council, recognize people and organizations for their contributions to the advancement of safety in the workplace, on the road, and in homes and communities.
The 2017 honorees were announced at the Green Cross for Safety Gala May 25 on San Diego's Coronado Island.
The Green Cross for Safety awards are presented in three categories:
Excellence in Safety
This award recognizes a corporation, coalition or organization unrelenting in its pursuit of safety. Nominees have created and implemented a life-saving and/or injury-preventing safety solution. Results demonstrate benefit to the organization and beyond. The 2017 Green Cross for Safety Excellence award was presented to PotashCorp. Read about the company's winning program.
The winner of the Safety Innovation award is a corporation, coalition or organization that has ignited a new path and achieved success by approaching a long-held challenge in safety with a fresh look or new idea. The 2017 Green Cross for Safety Innovation award was presented to the Piranha Lox True Interlock Harness, developed by The Boeing Company.

Individuals eligible for a Safety Advocate award have made a significant personal impact on a safety issue using data and evidence-based practices to raise awareness and prevent further injuries and deaths. The 2017 Green Cross for Safety Advocate award was presented to Deputy Chief Louis Jogmen for his work with the Illinois Association of State Police.
