The Green Cross for Safety Awards, presented by the National Safety Council, recognize people and organizations for their contributions to the advancement of safety in the workplace, on the road, and in homes and communities.
The nomination period closed Dec. 9. The awards committee reviewed nominations to select the finalists, who were notified in March. Winners will be announced at the Green Cross for Safety awards dinner May 25 on San Diego's Coronado Island.
The Green Cross for Safety awards are presented in three categories:
Excellence in Safety
This award recognizes a corporation, coalition or organization unrelenting in its pursuit of safety. Nominees have created and implemented a life-saving and/or injury-preventing safety solution. Results demonstrate benefit to the organization and beyond.
The winner of the Safety Innovation award will be a corporation, coalition or organization that has ignited a new path and achieved success by approaching a long-held challenge in safety with a fresh look or new idea.
Individuals eligible for a Safety Advocate award have made a significant personal impact on a safety issue using data and evidence-based practices to raise awareness and prevent further injuries and deaths.
