"Caterpillar's Technology and Solutions Division wanted to move beyond injury rates to detemrine whether true culture change regarding safety and health was occurring within its workplace.
The National Safety Council developed customized surveys and resurveyed Caterpillar's employees on a regular basis, over several years to measure progress, conduct action planning and motivate continuous improvement. Other Caterpillar divisions took advantage of the NSC's safety leadership and managment training, and are bringing that specialized education to senior-level supervisors in Mexico, South America, France and China.
