Every five years, guidelines detailing how rescuers should perform vital first aid and basic life support techniques are updated based on medical research. NSC is at the leading edge of this process.

The new and updated guidelines were released Oct. 15, 2015, and are based on an international evaluation process that involved hundreds of experts worldwide, including the National Safety Council.
