Lockout/Tagout (1910.147)
This standard outlines minimum performance requirements for the control of hazardous energy during servicing and maintenance of machines and equipment. It requires that lockout be used for equipment designed with such capability. After Jan. 2, 1990, any purchase of new machines/equipment, or replacement or major repair, renovation, and/or modification of machines/equipment be designed and installed with the ability to accept a lockout device. It also contains criteria for establishing an effective program for locking out devices.
Mechanical Power Transmission Apparatus (1910.219)
This standard covers all types and shapes of power transmission belts, except in certain situations when belts are operating at 250 feet per minute or less.
Electrical – Wiring Methods (1910.305)
This standard covers the grounding of electrical equipment, wiring and insulation. It includes temporary wiring and splicing such as flexible cords and cables.
Hazard Communication (1910.1200)
This standard addresses chemical hazards, both chemicals produced in the workplace and imported into the workplace. It also governs the communication of those hazards to workers by listing the requirements needed to be met in the written program.
Machine Guarding (1910.212)
This section of the machine guarding standard provides that one or more methods of machine guarding be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards, including those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks.
Electrical – General Requirements (1910.303)
This standard covers general safety requirements for designing electrical systems.
Respiratory Protection (1910.134)
This standard directs employers in establishing or maintaining a respiratory protection program. It lists requirements for program administration; worksite-specific procedures; respirator selection; employee training; fit testing; medical evaluation; respirator use; and respirator cleaning, maintenance and repair.
Guarding Floor and Wall Openings and Holes (1910.23)
This standard provides protection for floor and wall openings.
Housekeeping (1910.22)
This standard is designed to ensure places of employment, passageways, storerooms and services areas are kept clean, orderly and in a sanitary condition.
Machine Guarding – Abrasive Wheel Machinery (1910.215)
General requirements for this section of the machine guarding standard mandate that abrasive wheels be used only on machines provided with safety guards.
