The litigation of compensation

The ruling: Read the Missouri Supreme Court's ruling that granted a widow her husband's disability compensation after he died of causes unrelated to his injury.

The reaction: Missouri state Sen. Chris Koster, D, introduced legislation (.pdf file) that would discontinue permanent total disability compensation to dependents.

"No fault" no longer? A 2006 Supreme Court of Ohio decision (.pdf file) disqualified a negligent worker from receiving workers' comp.

The reversal: Read the court's reversal (.pdf file), which restored Ohio's "no fault" system.
