MUTCD update: Traffic safety industry professionals are awaiting an updated version of the national Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. A notice of proposed amendments (.pdf file) to the MUTCD was published in the Jan. 2, 2008, Federal Register. A seven-month public comment period closed on July 31, 2008, and FHWA officials say they are reviewing and analyzing the comments.

Safety program: Download the Roadway Awareness Safety Program.
Flagger training: The National Safety Council offers roadway work zone training for flaggers and temporary traffic control design and supervision. The council and the American Road & Transportation Builders Association also teamed up to develop a new program, OSHA 10-Hour Training, exclusively for the Roadway Construction Industry (OSHA-Roadway).
