It’s an outreach program focusing on safety. Anyone can be a Safety Ambassador. There is no age limit or time commitment required. All that's needed is an interest in protecting those you care about.
The areas where the greatest number of preventable injuries and deaths occur include:
- Motor vehicle
- Falls
- Unintentional drug overdose
- Overexertion
At NSC's Congress & Expo in October of 2009, NSC called on Safety Ambassadors to perform A Million Acts of Safety. We're asking the public to help. Participating is easy.
Sign up as a Safety Ambassador.
Select the area of most interest to you and talk to people about how to stay safe. You'll find tools for success here on the NSC Website.
Track your progress.
At NSC's Congress & Expo 2010, the person who reached the most people and the person who performed the most acts will receive special recognition.
Please talk to your local businesses, your friends and your family and help them understand how to stay safe. A few Acts of Safety you could perform include:
- Talk to the parents of teens about the benefits of GDL best practices
- Increase awareness of the dangers of overexertion and how to avoid it
- Offer tips to minimize falls within your workplace or home
- Help others develop best practices and enforce good driving behaviors
- Help people prevent unintentional drug overdose by understanding the risks
- Ask friends, family members and neighbors to not talk or text on their cell phones while driving.
If you don’t feel comfortable presenting the enclosed materials, print out the posters and tip sheets and ask your local businesses to display them.
