Graduated Driver Licensing: Review of Evaluation Results Since 2002  Shope, Journal of Safety Research, 2007. Summarized 21 studies that show GDL systems reduced novice drivers' crash risk by 20-40 percent.

GDL Restrictions Reduce Fatal Crashes for 16-Year-Old Drivers  Baker, Chen & Li, Pediatrics, 2006. GDL systems with at least 5 of 7 components showed a 20 percent reduction in fatal crashes involving 16-year-old drivers.
