NSC Basic Life Support for Health Care & Professional Rescuers has been reviewed and approved in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for EMS providers. An EMS Bulletin will be generated in the next few weeks indicating the acceptance. In the meantime, any individual or institution may call Mr. John Englert (717-787-8740) or any of the regional EMS Councils in Pennsylvania for verification of the programs acceptance. All Pennsylvania Regional EMS Council Education Coordinators have been notified of the acceptance of NSC Basic Life Support for Health Care & Professional Rescuers.
The Iowa Department of Human Services has approved the NSC Pediatric First Aid, CPR & AED program for child care providers. The approval is valid for 5 years and will need to be renewed in 2017.
The Council has received confirmation from the State of Louisiana, Department of Health and Hospitals, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services that it has renewed its approval for NSC Pediatric First Aid, CPR & AED to be used to train employees in Class A and Class B Child Care Centers. This two year approval will expire on June 30, 2014. A copy of the approval letter is included below.

has approved our CPR & AED program as being "established to train individuals as AED users which follow the course objectives of the AHA and ARC or other nationally recognized courses".
Bloodborne Pathogens has been approved by the South Carolina Division of Health Licensing for tattoo and body piercing artists.
We just received word that NSC Advanced First Aid, CPR & AED can be used to fulfill the first aid requirements for staff at children’s camps in the state of New York. NSC instructors can begin teaching this course immediately. The state’s Bureau of Community Environmental Health and Food Protection will update its fact sheet in 2012 to reflect that NSC Advanced First Aid, CPR & AED is an acceptable equivalent to the American Red Cross’ course. The fact sheet currently lists our prior edition, First Aid Taking Action, as an acceptable course.
The National Safety Councils First Aid programs meet OSHA, state, DOT and other requirements from regulatory bodies. Our programs have been approved by many State EMS Directors, EMS Coordinators and organizations. Below are a few of the approvals that we have received. The United States Coast Guard has granted approval on our NSC First Aid, CPR & AED and Pediatric First Aid, CPR & AED courses until May 31, 2015. Below is the official letter from the Coast Guard. They have determined that our courses meet or exceed the requirements for the OCMI training for a merchant marine license.
Please be aware of the following change of requirements:
“The course completion certificate must include the alphanumeric reference code immediately after the course title.”

The National Safety Council’s First Aid, CPR & AED is approved for "Level 1 First Aider" and Advanced First Aid, CPR & AED and Emergency Medical Response is approved for “Level 2 First Aider”.
The Boy Scouts of America issued the attached statement in 2008 adding the National Safety Council as one of the organizations providing equivalent training.

The Pennsylvania Quality Assurance System has awarded the National Safety Council the status of Specialty Discipline Organization.
The Pennsylvania Office of Child Development and Early Learning has reviewed and approved NSC's Pediatric First Aid, CPR & AED course.
The State of Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services has approved NSC BLS Health Care and Professional Rescuer course for licensure requirements.
The Government of Alberta (Canada) has approved the following National Safety Council first aid courses for the next five years (April 2011 to April 2016):
