DDC-Attitudinal Dynamics of Driving

Attitudinal Dynamics of Driving (DDC-ADD) is a highly effective course that helps problem drivers make direct connections between their attitudes and their behavior behind the wheel. They’ll see that the choices they make have very real costs – financial, legal, and personal – and learn to take responsibility for their action.

Newly revised in 2008, the 3rd edition has been completely overhauled to encompass new skill sets and mind sets to recognize the direct connection between drivers’ attitudes and their driving behaviors. Find new and expanded topics and course materials for DDC-ADD, 3rd edition.

Training goal

This 3-day course will prepare you to lead group discussions and help repeat offenders choose safe driving behaviors.

Who should attend?

Anyone who works with repeat traffic offenders, safety managers, fleet managers and driving school instructors.

Why should you attend?

Your organization can save lives and money by implementing DDC-ADD into your driver training program. Driver error is the cause of almost 70% of all motor vehicle collisions, and errors are often the result of a poor driver attitude. Research prepared for the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles showed that DDC-ADD participants recorded a 34% reduction in collisions and a 43% reduction in minor violations in the year after taking the DDC-ADD course.

Topics covered in the instructor course include:

  • how to get students involved in group discussions
  • how to use course materials
  • administrative responsibilities
  • adult learning needs
  • developing effective teaching skills
  • the difference between needs and wants and how they apply to driving
  • rules of the road
  • review of various driving situations
  • assessing individual driving behavior
  • and much more
Please note: Candidate instructors for DDC-ADD are required to pass a pre-certification test prior to the Instructor Development Course. This helps NSC ensure that instructors truly understand the concepts and have the ability to persuade students to change their driving behavior.
