Fall protection company reports possible defective hooks

Compton, CA – Users of FallTech brand lanyard hooks are being advised to inspect products for possible defects that could lead to serious injury or death.

In a product inspection advisory notice (.pdf file) issued Feb. 1, FallTech advised customers to inspect Yoke Industrial Corp.-manufactured snap hooks and rebar hooks found with FallTech Lanyards, Rebar Chain Assemblies, Harness/Lanyard Combos and Roofer’s Kits. The possibly defective products were manufactured from Jan. 1, 2012, through Jan. 25, 2013, with serial numbers 0776186 through 1218826.

FallTech said to check the fastening rivets used to assemble the hooks. Defective hooks will have rivets that can be fully removed without any tools by pushing on the pressed “tail” end of the rivet.

Customers should immediately remove any defective hook from service and contact FallTech to arrange a replacement.
