It is a pleasure to recognize the 2012 class of the NSC Rising Stars of Safety, presented by DuPont Sustainable Solutions. This elite group of up-and-coming safety professionals 40 and younger was selected from more than 160 nominees. This year’s honorees come from a variety of industries representing six countries and organizations varying in size from fewer than 100 employees to more than 1 million.
For the third consecutive year, the NSC Rising Stars of Safety program honors leaders of tomorrow for their commitment to safety, influence on safety culture, promotion of continuous workplace safety improvement and creation of safety initiatives producing measurable outcomes – the foundational pillars of the National Safety Council’s Journey to Safety Excellence.
NSC is proud to recognize this year’s Rising Stars at the 2012 NSC Congress & Expo, which will take place Oct. 20-25 in Orlando, FL. This year’s event, the “Celebration of the Century,” symbolizes 100 years of safety collaboration, lessons learned and progress across the world. The work of these young leaders represents the kinds of accomplishments that are crucial to the next century of safety. Each class of NSC Rising Stars brings forth invaluable insight and perspectives, which undoubtedly will make an impact on the advancement of safety. The first two classes played a major part in the creation of the Young Professional track taking place at this year’s Congress & Expo. Additionally, several Rising Stars will be serving as presenters at Technical Sessions. It is our hope that these efforts will provide quality continuing education to help other young professionals tackle new and evolving safety issues.
As we look toward the next century of safety, we know that engaging young safety professionals today will make for a brighter tomorrow. We are excited to continue working with all of the NSC Rising Stars in setting the safety bar higher so together we can help save more lives and help prevent more injuries.
