Washington – More than $10 million in grant funding has been awarded to 72 nonprofit organizations to train and educate workers and employers on workplace safety and health hazards, OSHA announced Sept. 11.
The Susan Harwood Training Grant Program for fiscal year 2012 awarded $10.7 million in funds for categories that include Capacity Building Development, Targeted Topic Training, and Training and Educational Materials Development.
“The programs funded by these grants provide thousands of workers and employers with critical health and safety training and education,” OSHA administrator David Michaels said in a press release. “These programs are unique in that they provide in-person, hands-on training that will have a long-lasting impact on improving workplace safety and health.”
