Solis signs migrant worker rights agreement

Washington – Local consulates of Ecuador, Honduras, Peru and the Philippines will partner with Department of Labor agencies to educate migrant workers about U.S. health, safety and wage laws, according to an agreement signed June 11.

The partnership between the countries and Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis will aim to ensure migrant workers from these countries are aware of their rights to safe workplaces and full wage payments owed to them.

“The partnerships help the Occupational Safety and Health Administration reach vulnerable workers in dangerous industries with information that can prevent accidents and save lives,” Solis said in a blog post.
