National Safety Council Congress & Expo Student Scholarship

The National Safety Council Congress & Expo is the world's premier annual safety event, bringing together 15,000 safety, health, and environmental professionals from various industries. Congress & Expo will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, from September 25-27, 2017. Scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to attend technical sessions, keynote addresses, and an expo of over 1,000 companies. This is an invaluable opportunity for scholarship recipients to network with thousands of safety and health professionals. For more information, visit congress.nsc.org. Program Goals

  • Expand the environmental health and safety (EHS) workforce pipeline
  • Enable top students an opportunity to explore the field through learning opportunities, keynote addresses, and networking with safety professionals
  • Encourage continuing participation through mentorship opportunities
  • Contribute to the advancement of environmental safety and health or closely related engineering fields

About the Program & Criteria

  • NSC Scholarships are awarded annually to eligible NSC Student Members.
  • You must be a current NSC student member in good standing (to access the NSC online scholarship application). Click here to join NSC as a student member; there is no cost for membership (US residents only).
  • This scholarship will fully fund attendance to the National Safety Council Congress & Expo including registration, transportation, lodging, and per diem.
  • To be eligible, you must be a community college, university, or online student (freshman through junior) who is enrolled in course work leading to a career path in environmental safety and health or a closely related field (e.g., engineering).
  • For your major to be considered closely related to EHS, you must be taking at least 25% of your credits each semester in courses related to the field.
  • The application period is now closed.

Preference may be given to students who demonstrate the following

  • Strong commitment to the field exemplified through essay and or work/internship experience within the EHS field.
  • Leadership within the academic context specified above, and a strong potential for contribution to the EHS profession identified in a recommendation letter.

NSC Student Members

Undergraduate NSC members are eligible with funding made possible through the National Safety Council and its members.
