The National Safety Council has long been recognized as a leader
in CPR training. Our programs offer the very latest techniques and guidelines. Now
we've taken our CPR training one step further by adding AED to the program.
Nearly every two minutes, someone dies of sudden cardiac arrest. Automated external
defibrillation (AED) could save a quarter of these lives. AED devices are showing
up everywhere from industrial settings to shopping malls, and the demand for training
is rising.
The National Safety Council makes it easy for anyone to learn CPR and AED. We give
you all the background information you need to feel confident in the event of an
emergency - and help save a life.
About 400 workplace deaths from cardiac arrest are reported to OSHA every year.
An average time to defibrillation of 5 minutes would produce a 40 percent survival
rate. That's 160 lives per year that could be saved. Employers should consider using
AEDs at their worksites to reduce time to defibrillation and improve survival rates.
