2002 Graduated Driver Licensing Symposium: The Collection of Papers
The National Safety Council has identified teen motor vehicle crashes as a national
crisis. Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) is the system of laws and practices that
gradually introduces young drivers into the driving population. A 2002 symposium
brought together leading researchers and acknowledged experts to explore the various
issues of GDL.
The
Journal of Safety Research printed the proceedings from this
symposium in Jaunary 2003. This collection of scientific research documents both
the higher risk and collision rates for teenage drivers and the benefits that have
been realized from GDL provisions. The National Safety Council, sponsor of the November
2002 symposium and publisher of the Journal of Safety Research, provides
these papers here as downloadable PDF documents.
