Election 2008: What It Means for Safety

The outcome of the United States’ presidential election has the potential to affect your family: your job, your health care and the economy. The election will also prompt changes in our nation’s approach to occupational safety and health, regardless of the outcome.

The National Safety Council explored how and why an administration led by Sen. John McCain, R-AZ, or Sen. Barack Obama, D-IL, may approach restructuring within the Department of Labor and OSHA in "Changes Expected," the cover article of its October issue of Safety+Health magazine. Among topics covered are each candidate’s Congressional record on occupational safety and the likelihood of continuing to follow party priorities.
