Gone Too Soon
Last June, Cary Greene was riding in a friend's truck on the way home from a graduation party when they crashed into a tree. Cary and two friends lost their lives, and the Clarksburg, Damascus, Germantown and Gaithersburg High School communities in Maryland were heartbroken. Police reports concluded that speeding and inexperienced driving likely caused the crash.
Cary is remembered by his family and friends as a sports lover—particularly football—and a self-taught guitar player who had a strong work ethic and encouraged others. He was training hard and looking forward to playing his senior season of football.
Thousands of people are killed every year in distracted driving crashes: drivers (both new and seasoned), as well as pedestrians. Sadly, every single one of these deaths is 100% preventable.
Your gift today will help the National Safety Council prevent distracted driving deaths. With your donation, we will educate teens and their families, develop effective programs and advocate for policies and laws that prevent injuries and save lives.
