Itasca, IL, Nov. 21, 2014 – The National Safety Council strongly supports the President's nomination of Dr. Mark Rosekind to serve as Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). As a member of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), Dr. Rosekind has been instrumental in calling attention to top transportation safety issues such as drunk, drugged and distracted driving.
"Dr. Rosekind will bring strong leadership and a critical safety focus to NHTSA," said Deborah A.P. Hersman, NSC president and CEO. "Mark's expertise, experience and independence will serve the public interest as NHTSA addresses both organizational and behavioral issues that result in deaths and injuries on our roadways."
The Council urges swift confirmation by the Senate so Dr. Rosekind may lead NHTSA in the important work of driving down the unacceptable and preventable deaths and injuries that continue to occur on the nation's roads every day.
