Indianapolis, IL – The National Safety Council announced that Danielle Branciforte is the winner of its ninth annual Teen Driving Safety Leadership Award. The Teen Driving Safety Leadership Award recognizes individuals and organizations that have made exceptional contributions to teen driver safety by working on policy, awareness, education and outreach. This year's winner stood out because her efforts have had a measurable impact on efforts to save teen lives.
"Car crashes remain the leading cause of death for teens and the danger isn't going away on its own," said Kelly Nantel, vice president of communications and advocacy at NSC. "Danielle has worked hand-in-hand with teens to find a solution that protects our youngest drivers. She truly deserves to be recognized as a leader in teen driving safety."
As the leader of the Florida Teen Safe Driving Coalition and the statewide director for Florida SADD, Branciforte played an integral role in decreasing teen driver fatalities and improving teen driver safety across the entire state of Florida. During her leadership, Florida saw an 18% drop in fatal car crashes among 15- to-19-year-old teen drivers and a 22% drop among the state's youngest drivers, aged 15 to 17.
Branciforte will receive her award at the annual NSC Defensive Driving Courses Awards Banquet, Saturday, Sept. 23, during the 2017 NSC Congress & Expo in Indianapolis.
