Anaheim – The National Safety Council applauds OSHA for updating its recommended practices for Safety and Health Programs – a roadmap for ensuring workers are as safe as possible.
Workplaces have changed dramatically since the recommended practices were last updated 25 years ago, so employers need real-world information and tools to adjust accordingly. That begins with understanding that we cannot keep workers safe and healthy just by minimizing hazards and risks. Employers must engage their workers and create a positive safety culture to set the organization on a Journey to Safety Excellence.
With workplace deaths at their highest level since 2008, we must examine new tactics. These updated recommendations give employers a fresh approach to protecting employees, and we are confident they can help save lives.
About the National Safety Council
Founded in 1913 and chartered by Congress, the National Safety Council is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to save lives by preventing injuries and deaths at work, in homes and communities, and on the road through leadership, research, education and advocacy. NSC advances this mission by partnering with businesses, government agencies, elected officials and the public in areas where we can make the most impact – distracted driving, teen driving, workplace safety, prescription drug overdoses and Safe Communities. Safety+Health magazine, the Council's flagship publication, is a leading source of occupational safety and health information.
The National Safety Council has a broadcast TV and radio studio at its headquarters, with both HD and SD capabilities. We are happy to accommodate both live and taped interviews and work closely with your station’s tech team. Please direct inquiries to the above telephone number or email address.
