NSC Statement on the Truth in Opioids Public Education Campaign from Truth Initiative
It will take all of us to end this epidemic.
It will take all of us to end this epidemic.
Itasca, IL – The National Safety Council applauds the just-announced Truth in Opioids public education campaign from the Truth Initiative, the White House, ONDCP and the Ad Council.
The Truth in Opioids campaign provides a stark reminder of how addictive and devastating opioids can be. NSC understands how vital it is to personalize the crisis. Our own Prescribed to Death memorial brings people face to face with the deadly consequences of the opioid epidemic and provides concrete steps people can take to break the cycle through opioid warn me labels and postage-paid Seal & Send envelopes to dispose of unused medication. We are glad to see another campaign that provides solutions.
If we are to end this epidemic, it will take all of us, working together to educate the public, to influence prescribing practices and to ensure access to effective treatment. We look forward to working with the White House, ONDCP, the Ad Council and Truth Initiative to save lives.
