Massachusetts Driver Retraining Program: Out-of-State Completions

The Out-of-State Program is designed for drivers that must attend a Massachusetts Driver Retraining Program but no longer live in Massachusetts. To participate in the Out-of-State Program, the driver must be able to provide proof of residency showing that they currently live outside of Massachusetts. Please note, residency in Vermont, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Rhode Island does not qualify for the Out-of-State Program. If you reside in one of those four states, you must return to Massachusetts to complete the Driver Retraining Program.

Out-of-State Eligibility

STEP 1:

Contact our Massachusetts DRP Customer Service Department at (800) 215-1581 to register for a virtual-instructor led course. You must be able to provide your out of state address at this time in order to receive a course guide in the mail. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email with further steps on completing the virtual instructor-led course.

You will attend the virtual instructor led course. In order to complete the course, you will need*:

  • A device that has a camera, microphone and internet. Examples include a smart phone, laptop or PC
  • A course guide and self-assessment profile that will be mailed after registration; you will complete them both during class
  • Photo ID
  • Proof of Residency (shown at class check-in)
Approved items include: utility bills (electric, gas, water), military orders, college enrollment verification, state ID/license, company letterhead for an extended business assignment, paystubs, etc.

*Please see your class confirmation for more details.

STEP 3:
