NSC First Aid Program Updates for Chapters

This information covers the updating of NSC First Aid programs to the newest 2020 ILCOR Guidelines. As you know, there are thousands of steps required to complete the update of a single NSC program. This is just one reason NSC programs are so highly sought after. The level of detail and quality that goes into each one makes all the difference, and helps us strengthen the future of NSC and fuel our many missions. 

This web page will be updated regularly and is the go-to spot for all transition updates. The NSC First Aid and Product Development teams appreciate your patience as we continue this long-awaited journey.

Important Things to Know

Dates

  • Instructor resource kits bought between July 1, 2021, and Jan. 7, 2022, will be replaced with updated IRKs at no charge
  • June 30, 2022: First Aid transition pricing ends

Important Details

  • Regular (post-transition) pricing will be effective as of July 1, 2022
    New product codes will also apply, as with previous transitions
    Effective July 1, 2022, NSC will initiate a price increase on many first aid materials
  • Previously purchased first aid materials may be used at the discretion of the customer; if the customer is not under any regulatory agency mandates, they may use current materials until depleted
  • NSC will NOT take returns for items purchased PRIOR to the 30 days standard return policy
  • NSC will NOT make any exchanges of old materials for new materials
  • Effective with all new updated first aid program offerings, NSC will no longer provide physical multimedia (CD, DVD or USB)
    All materials will either be purchased as pre-printed materials or downloadable materials
    Downloadable options will have a lower price due to the cost-effectiveness they offer NSC
  • NSC first aid will offer an instructor transition online training video (estimated November 2022) in English and Spanish

No Charge Instructor Resource Kit Replacement Details

  • Instructor resource kits bought between July 1, 2021, and Jan. 7, 2022, will be replaced with updated IRKs at no charge
  • The replacement IRKs will be available as physical kits (in addition to the digital version provided during transition process)
  • All replacement kits will ship directly to the instructor to avoid Chapters having to incur shipping fees; if the preference is to ship to Chapter for distribution,  please request this on the order
  • Instructors cannot share Instructor Resource Kits; every first aid instructor must have an IRK

New FY22 First Aid Program Changes

Your feedback on behalf of our customers is always valued. As you will see below, First Aid is adding new offerings and making changes where they matter most. We are addressing as many items as we can in this update. Some areas you may have mentioned may not be listed here, however we are aware of them and they remain on our radar for the future as time and resource allow. If there is something specific you are looking for, please reach out and ask.  

eLearning Offerings

NSC will now offer four of the five* primary courses as an eLearning (online) option.

The following will be offered in English and Spanish:

  • FA/CPR/AED - updated offering
  • FA only - new offering
  • CPR/AED only - new offering
  • Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens - updated offering

*Please note: Pediatric FA/CPR/AED will not be offered as an eLearning (online) program.

eIDC Offerings

NSC will now offer four of the five* primary courses as eIDCs (online), also know as the Train the Trainer program, in English only to maintain consistency throughout NSC program offerings:

  • FA/CPR/AED - updated offering
  • FA only - new offering
  • CPR/AED only - new offering
  • Pediatric FA/CPR/AED - new offering

*Please note: : Bloodborne & Airborne Pathogens will not be offered as an eIDC as this program is a facilitator-style program. Participants and instructors will obtain certification to satisfy requirements. Participants must take this course annually to maintain their certification.

NSC will now offer four of the five* primary participant course materials in Spanish.

*Please note: Pediatric FA/CPR/AED will not be offered in Spanish.

Instructor Resource Material Offerings

All five primary programs will now have the Instructor Guide.

  • Annotated version of Participant Workbook for instructor use
  • Previously only available in FA/CPR/AED, FA, CPR/AED
  • Now available in:
    FA/CPR/AED - updated offering
    FA only - updated offering
    CPR/AED only - updated offering
    Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens - new offering
    Pediatric FA/CPR/AED - new offering

Instructor Renewal

NSC will update our Instructor Renewal Course. This course will now be available in Spanish, and it will remain a requirement every two years for recertification.
