COVID-19 Employer Approaches and Worker Experiences

The SAFER initiative at NSC conducted surveys, structured and semi-structured interviews, and group discussions with representatives of businesses and labor unions between June and August 2021. This research sought to gain insights on employer pandemic response, worker experiences and perceptions, vaccine policies, vaccine hesitancy, health care access, COVID-19 variants and the future of work. The Future World of Work

Based on in-depth interviews with safety, medical and public health experts, NSC created the Future World of Work report to understand how the pandemic will fundamentally change the way businesses operate and communicate with their workforces. Download the report.

Employer Actions to Address the Pandemic

NSC surveyed hundreds of employers to understand the COVID-19 related safety protocols they were using and the cost. On average, organizations spent $5,208 per employee on safety practices, from making remote work possible to providing PPE and hand sanitizer. Check out the infographic for a summary of findings. States' Actions to Address the Pandemic

With states serving as the front lines of the pandemic, NSC created this report to better understand the safety implications of each state’s response to the pandemic. Based off states’ efforts in five key areas from the NSC SAFER effort, the report revealed 39 states did not go far enough to protect residents. Get the methodology. Download the report.
