Help Your Employees Keep Their Families Safe from Opioids

Last year, more than 100,000 people died from a drug overdose, the most ever in a single year. These more than 100,000 friends, neighbors and co-workers were primarily lost due to the opioid epidemic, which affects Americans of all ages. Children as young as 10 report prescription opioid misuse and 18- to 25-year-olds are most likely to have misused opioids in the past year. This epidemic shows no signs of slowing but you can help support your employees and their loved ones with the new Connect2Prevent program from the National Safety Council.

What is Connect2Prevent?

This innovative, evidence-based program engages your employees in opioid awareness and misuse prevention so they can support and educate their families. NSC is looking for organizations to partner with to pilot this new program to their employees.

● Connect2Prevent builds employee confidence and competence in understanding and addressing opioid use, misuse, overdose and impairment

● This program uses an innovative two-generation approach to provide employees with crucial information about the potential impact on adolescents and share tools to communicate with family members about opioids

● Connect2Prevent focuses on the key protective factor of the connection between parents and family members

● This program uses evidence-based motivational interviewing concepts to promote communication and connection

Here's How it Works

Employees receive weekly lessons for 12 weeks; each lesson takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete

● Lesson topics include general opioid knowledge, identifying opioid misuse, safe storage and disposal, stigma, talking to providers, refusal skills, harm reduction and more

● Each lesson also includes action items and scripts to spark conversations with family members

Evaluation opportunities include pre-tests and post-tests with each module, a baseline evaluation, brief surveys throughout the 12 weeks and a final evaluation.
