NSC Announces Recipient of the 2023 Networks Innovation Award

The NSC Networks Innovation Awards recognize fresh, effective approaches and programs that protect employees' health, safety and the environment.

February 08, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Safety Council is proud to announce Lockheed Martin as the 2023 recipient of the NSC Networks Innovation Award. Rather than using the mass of materials to create a sound barrier, Lockheed Martin developed an innovative approach to use scientific passive attenuation principles and lightweight materials instead, integrating the approach into its testing operations, which resulted in ergonomic improvements and a substantial reduction in noise exposure for its engineers and technicians.

NSC is also proud to announce the selection of two Innovation award runners-up: Tesla and Holcim.

Tesla was selected as a runner-up for the creation and implementation of a program that provides its leadership team with the tools and skills to verify and validate essential safeguards as well as allow for meaningful dialogue with frontline workers and contractors to ensure there is a continuous review of EHS systems to find improvements.

Holcim was selected for its implementation of a user-friendly app that provides real-time feedback and nurtures a culture of positive health, safety and environment practices for the organization’s international workforce of 120,000 HSE employees and contractors.

The NSC Networks Innovation Awards recognize fresh, effective approaches and programs that protect employees' health, safety and the environment. Recipients are selected based on a blind review that includes an evaluation of the significance of the innovation, its potential for deployment across industries and its overall sustainability and contribution to the field of occupational safety and health.
