National Safety Council Unveils ‘Rising Stars of Safety’
Program to Recognize Young Safety Professionals

Itasca, IL – The National Safety Council today announced it is accepting nominations for its new “Rising Stars of Safety” program, which recognizes individuals younger than 40 who have distinguished themselves by improving workplace safety. NSC is looking for young safety professionals who display creative, new and unique approaches to safety. Candidates also must have five or more years of direct safety experience and a foundation of safety oversight.

NSC invites organizations to submit a “Rising Stars of Safety” nomination form on behalf of an employee who:

  • Initiates and leads efforts to overcome difficult safety problems
  • Provides innovative solutions to eliminate hazards and minimize risk
  • Helps transform an organization’s safety culture
  • Displays a safety mindset that promotes continuous improvement
  • Leads safety campaigns that affect multiple levels within an organization

“We hope that ‘Rising Stars of Safety’ will help engage those who are shaping the future of occupational safety and health by creating a platform to recognize their contributions,” said Janet Froetscher, NSC president and CEO. “Our new program also gives organizations a great opportunity to receive industry wide recognition for their safety leadership.”

Selected honorees will be featured in the October issue of Safety+Health magazine, and will receive a complimentary pass to the NSC 2010 Congress & Expo, Oct. 3-8, in San Diego. Access to exclusive workshops and events is included to help honorees network and learn more about workplace safety.

Nominate a candidate online at nsc.org/risingstars by July 31, 2010.

The National Safety Council (www.nsc.org) saves lives by preventing injuries and deaths at work, in homes and communities, and on the roads through leadership, research, education and advocacy.
