The EPR2 RoundtableThe EPR2 Roundtable, managed
by the National Safety Council,
was formed in 1997 to raise public awareness about and find innovative
ways to promote environmentally and economically sound management
of electronic equipment that no longer meets the needs of its
original owners. The roundtable explored options
at the beginning of life, such as design for environment,
that will help eliminate some of the end of life
issues. The roundtable members, who are listed
below, represented a broad range of organizations, including original
equipment manufacturers; federal, state, and local government
agencies; nongovernmental organizations; retailers; and academia.
As a result of the Roundtable's recommendations, the National Safety Council produced the first Electronic Product Recovery and Recycling Baseline Report in May 1999.
