Safe Communities America is a proven community-coalition approach to injury and death reduction. This program now boasts a network of more than 20 communities across the country. Affiliated with the World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Community Safety Promotion, NSC is a designating authority for the United States. Counties with a Safe Community designation have 9% fewer unintentional deaths than similar counties.
Campbell Institute is the center of excellence for environmental, health and safety (EHS) at NSC. The Institute seeks to foster healthy and high performing workplaces through identification and sharing of best practices in order to continuously improve EHS performance. Through events, partnerships, forums and a virtual library, the Institute is able to spread key learning and research across the globe.
The Green Cross for Safety Dinner is the largest fundraising event of the year, celebrating the Green Cross for Safety medal recipient. Network with colleagues from around the world and honor a best-in-class corporation in its Journey to Safety Excellence.
As part of the Teen Driving initiative, NSC will launch a campaign aimed at educating parents about safe driving habits. Slated to launch this fall, engagement opportunities will continue through spring and into the summer months.
This October NSC will salute the leaders and milestones that have inspired a century of progress in safety at the Congress and Expo. This will kick off a year-long celebration, concluding with setting the safety agenda for the nation at the Congress & Expo in September 2013.
This spring NSC will hosts a series of symposiums and informational events, including forums on teen driving and our new initiative, prescription drug abuse.
NSC has a number of ways to engage employees, from leadership development and involvement in organizational volunteer leadership with our Board of Delegates, to our Rising Stars Program, honoring an upcoming safety star in your organization. The Council also encourages safety awareness year-round and across all business divisions with turnkey and custom employee giving programs like Journey for Jeans.
National Safety Month is a month of observances providing the perfect platform to amplify safety messaging to employees, customers and vendors. For added focus, each week of the month is themed with a safety message such as, driver safety, ergonomics and safety at work or home.
