You can’t see, smell, or taste radon, but it could be present at a dangerous level in your home. Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer deaths among nonsmokers in America and claims the lives of about 20,000 Americans each year. The EPA and the U.S. Surgeon General urge all Americans to protect their health by testing their homes, schools, and other buildings for radon. Exposure to radon is a preventable health risk, and testing radon levels in your home can help prevent unnecessary exposure. (Source: www.epa.gov/radon)

Motorcyclists are much more vulnerable to crashes than other drivers. Many crashes occur because motorcycles are hidden in a vehicle’s blind spot. It is important that motorists always make a visual check for motorcyclists by checking mirrors and blind spots before entering or leaving a lane of traffic. Throughout the month of May, the National Safety Council will encourage motorists to share the road with motorcyclists and be extra alert when they are nearby.

Parents are concerned about protecting their teen's health and safety. But not everyone realizes that motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for U.S. teens. In 2007, more than 4,200 teens aged 15–19 were killed and almost 400,000 were treated in emergency departments for injuries suffered in motor-vehicle crashes. Fortunately, there are proven ways to reduce teen drivers' risk on the roads. Graduated driver licensing (GDL) systems, combined with parental management, can make a positive difference and make your teen a safer driver. (Source: www.CDC.gov)
