National Safety Council and Occupation Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Alliance

In September 2003, the National Safety Council and OSHA signed an Alliance Agreement to work together to improve health and safety in the general and construction industries. The Alliance has a particular focus on advancing motor vehicle safety, promoting drug-free workplaces and encouraging first aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training in the workplace.

Through the Alliance, the Council works to ensure that our nation’s employers and employees have access to information, guidance, and training materials to prevent accidental death and injury. The Alliance agreement’s goals include:

  • Providing expertise in developing materials on the prevention of workplace hazards and creating innovative ways to communication the information to employers and employees.
  • Convening and participating in forums, round table discussions, and stakeholder meetings to encourage innovative solutions in the workplace on safety and health issues.
  • Encouraging the National Safety Council’s chapters to build relationships with OSHA’s Regional and Area Offices to address general and construction industry health and safety issues.

The Alliance has been renewed in both 2005 and 2007.
