Take the SafeAtWork Pledge
Workplace fatalities are unacceptable. According to Injury Facts, total U.S. injury-related workplace fatalities reached 4,113 in 2020 - or three deaths per 100,000 full-time workers - and there were 4 million medically consulted injuries.
Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Employers must provide a safe work environment, as well as the financial support, management oversight, PPE, tools and training workers need to do their jobs safely. Both management and workers need to do their part to make safety a personal priority.
Together, these elements are part of a greater safety management system that aims to continuously identify hazards and reduce risks to an acceptable level. This system is particularly important as employees return to traditional work environments and schedules in a post-quarantine world. Take the pledge below to show your commitment to safety, from the workplace to anyplace.
I pledge to:
● Never compromise my own safety or the safety of my co-workers to get the job done
● Actively look for hazards, promptly report them and take appropriate action to warn others
● Be a good safety role model for my friends and family, even off the job
● Display the pledge certificate you receive for others to see
● Share the pledge with your co-workers, family and friends:
● Consider placing it on a company intranet site or in a company newsletter
● Email your friends and family, or post the pledge on your social channels
Doing your part today can help save a life tomorrow - maybe even your own.
