Brian Cook installed as chair; three new individuals join board to advance mission of preventing injuries and saving lives.
NEW ORLEANS –The National Safety Council welcomed three new members to its Board of Directors and appointed Brian Cook as chair on Oct. 22 during its annual board meeting at the 2023 NSC Safety Congress & Expo in New Orleans.
Brian Cook most recently served as vice chair for the NSC Board of Directors. He is an executive advisor for Challenger, Gray and Christmas, a Chicago-based global career transition firm, helping executives define and achieve their personal career goals. He retired as executive vice president and chief administrative officer of USG Corporation, a manufacturer of high-performance building products, where he led the human resources, employment law, communications and media relations, and environmental, health and safety functions. He is also an advisory board member for Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business and chairman emeritus of the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago.
Jill Anderson is executive vice president of operations for Southern California Edison. She was appointed to her current position in 2021 and is responsible for overseeing the company’s transmission, distribution, power generation, customer service, engineering, safety and other functions, providing the safe delivery of reliable, clean power to more than 15 million people across California.
Amy May is vice president of environment, health and safety for The Boeing Company and is responsible for the strategic direction of the company’s safety culture and processes. She is also a certified professional ergonomist whose work for managing ergonomics risk in manufacturing was previously recognized with a patent.
Dave Netti is senior vice president and director of risk services for Captive Resources, and Illinois-based consultancy. In this role, he is responsible for developing and delivering risk management resources to the firm’s m 6,000+ member companies. He is also a board-certified safety professional.
