Since 2014, Mr. Aasen has been the president and CEO of the Minnesota Safety Council. Mr. Aasen’s work with the Farm Safety Working Group resulted in legislative implementation of the tractor rollover protection program. He also led the development of the workplace safety dashboard in partnership with the Minnesota departments of Health and Labor & Industry. He serves as chairman of the OSHA Advisory Council and is a member of the Injury and Violence Prevention Coalition Steering Committee. He previously served in management roles with the City of Minneapolis, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy, Global Volunteers, Office of the Governor of the State of Minnesota, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, the Minnesota Division of Emergency Management, the Minnesota Emergency Response Commission and the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission. Mr. Aasen holds a master of science degree in environmental health/toxicology and a bachelor of science degree in biology/social psychology, both from the University of Minnesota.
