ORLANDO, Florida – For the first time, the National Safety Council presented the Joseph M. Kaplan Safe Driver of the Year Awards on the mainstage during Opening Session of the 2024 NSC Safety Congress & Expo. The award recognizes professional drivers for their total driving record, including miles and years driven without a preventable crash.

“With nearly 40% of deaths on the job occurring on the road, it’s critical we acknowledge that roadway safety is also workplace safety. By honoring this award and its recipients during Opening Session of our Safety Congress & Expo, we are doing just that,” said Lorraine Martin, president and CEO of the National Safety Council. “These individuals have demonstrated exceptional dedication to safe driving practices, serving as role models for their colleagues and the communities they serve. We are proud to honor them for all they do to keep people safe.”

Kaplan Safe Driver of the Year Award recognizes professional drivers who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to safe driving practices. The award evaluates a driver’s total driving record, including miles driven and years without a preventable crash.
