President Biden Nominates Doug Parker Assistant Secretary for OSHA

His previous experience with worker health and safety issues will serve him well.

April 13, 2021

Itasca, IL – The National Safety Council is pleased to see President Biden prioritizing workplace health and safety with the nomination of Doug Parker for Assistant Secretary for Occupational Safety and Health Administration at the Department of Labor. OSHA has been without a nominated and Senate-confirmed leader since 2017. As COVID-19 cases continue to rise across the country, safety in the workplace is of utmost importance as the future world of work is changing.

Parker’s experience serving the Obama Administration as deputy assistant secretary for policy in the Department of Labor’s Mine Safety and Health Administration and as a member of the Biden-Harris transition team focused on worker health and safety issues, will serve him well, if confirmed, to take on this role. NSC looks forward to working with Assistant Secretary Parker, as well as the OSHA team, to keep American workers and their safety at the forefront of decision-making.
