NSC Appoints Five New Members to Board of Directors

INDIANAPOLIS – The National Safety Council welcomed five new members to its board of directors during the annual board meeting at the 2026 NSC Safety Congress & Expo in Indianapolis. These new members will help provide strategic oversight for the organization and guide initiatives addressing some of the nation’s most pressing workplace and roadway safety challenges.

The following individuals have been elected to the board:

Todd Buehrig (chapters advisory representative) serves as president and CEO of the Southeastern Chapter of NSC, the largest safety nonprofit in the region. Under his leadership, the chapter reaches more than 40,000 people annually through workplace safety, roadway safety and community wellbeing programs. Buehrig has extensive experience leading mission-driven organizations, advancing strategic growth and building partnerships that promote safer communities.

Jason Dunaway (at-large director) is president of maintenance and construction for Day & Zimmermann, leading the company’s engineering, procurement, construction, maintenance and modification services. With more than 30 years of experience in the power industry and construction management, Dunaway has focused his career on advancing safety, operational excellence and organizational growth. In 2024, he was appointed to the White House’s Nuclear Power Project Management and Delivery Working Group.

David Payton (at-large director) is vice president of risk for TSC Construction, returning to the NSC Board after previously serving as delegates advisory representative from 2022-2024. A former ironworker, Payton has more than 25 years of experience leading environmental health, safety and risk programs across the construction, telecommunications, maritime, manufacturing and government sectors. His expertise spans operational performance, leadership development and organizational risk management.

Bill Strahan (at-large director) is chief human resources officer for Comcast Corporation, overseeing the company’s global human resources organization, including talent, compensation, benefits, learning and employee relations. He brings more than four decades of experience spanning human resources, law and consulting, including leadership roles at Mercer and a legal practice focused on compensation and benefits.

Catherine West (delegates advisory representative) is vice president of environment, health and safety for Amentum Technology. She has extensive experience leading EHS programs across the aerospace, defense, manufacturing and professional services industries. A longtime NSC volunteer and thought leader, West has served on numerous NSC committees and initiatives, including the SAFER Taskforce and the working group that developed the first ASTM standard focused on identifying and reducing the risk of serious workplace incidents and fatalities.
