NSC Congress and Expo Sees Increase in Safety Professional Attendees

Annual NSC conference continues to draw interest from people around the world.

Itasca, IL – The National Safety Council saw an increase in the number of safety professionals attending this year’s NSC Congress and Expo, which took place in September at the San Diego Convention Center in California.

NSC Congress and Expo – the world’s largest annual gathering of safety professionals – drew more than 15,000 safety, health and environmental professionals and distributors this year. The event saw a 13% increase in participants with “safety” in their overall job title and an 11% increase in attendees whose primary area of expertise is safety management. In addition, 60 new companies who have never participated attended by taking advantage of the NSC Corporate Group Savings Program. Those attending represented the U.S., Canada and 71 other countries.

“We would like to give a big thank you to all who attended this year’s NSC Congress and Expo,” said Lorraine M. Martin, president and CEO of the National Safety Council. “With 1,100 exhibitors, more than 150 educational programs and numerous networking opportunities, we hope attendees at this year’s event walked away with new tools and insights to help make their workplaces safer.”

For more than 100 years, NSC Congress and Expo has featured industry-leading technology, education and networking opportunities for those in safety and related fields. The annual event takes place in different locations throughout the U.S. and was last held in San Diego in 2014.

Exhibiting companies this year showcased a wide variety of products, including personal protective equipment, tools and technology. Data from this year’s event show that 91% of the NSC Congress and Expo audience has buying influence, with a 14% increase in attendees who plan to purchase within six months of the event.

This year’s NSC Congress and Expo also featured the fifth annual “Best in Show” New Product Showcase Awards. More than 100 products from 72 companies were featured, with overall votes coming in at 14,000 – double last year’s vote total. Winners were:

  • EGA Master – first place – Total Safety Slogging Wrench
  • Task Glove Corp. – second place – Versus Plus VII VSP72670HO glove
  • Maincal SA – third place – Energy 420G sports shoe

Next year’s NSC Congress and Expo will take place Oct. 5 through 7 with professional development seminars taking place Oct. 2-4 and 7-8 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. Registration opens May 5. Learn more at congress.nsc.org.
