NSC Recognizes Three Leaders with Marion Martin Award

Accolade celebrates outstanding female safety professionals.

ITASCA, Ill. – The National Safety Council, America’s leading nonprofit safety advocate, today announced this year’s recipients of its 2021 Marion Martin Award, presented annually to outstanding female safety professionals. The following safety leaders were honored during the opening session of the 2021 NSC Safety Congress & Expo:
 

  • Rose McMurray, chief transportation safety advisor, FDR Safety, LLC. In her role, she provides consulting services to the trucking, motor coach, transit and other transportation sectors. She also provides expert witness services in truck and motor coach legal cases, as well as teaching safety management at the graduate student level. Previously, McMurray served as chief safety officer and assistant administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration at the United States Department of Transportation. 
  • Megan Proctor, director, environmental, safety, health and quality, Central Plateau Cleanup Company, LLC. In her role, she ensures safety at Central Plateau Cleanup Company, the single largest and most experienced nuclear end-state delivery team. With 179 years of combined nuclear experience, the company has decommissioned 1,179 facilities and dispositioned more waste than any other U.S. company.
  • Catriona Schmolke, retired senior vice president, global head of safety, security, sustainability and quality, Jacobs (United Kingdom). Prior to retiring, she oversaw health and safety for Jacobs, a Fortune 500 company with 60,000 employees worldwide that provide technical and professional engineering services. For more than 30 years, Schmolke held various operational leadership positions, working with clients to identify safe, sustainable solutions to address their challenges.

Whether at global companies or in government positions, their expertise and guidance has created a safer working environment for thousands of people, ultimately allowing them to live their fullest lives.”

Launched in 2016, the Marion Martin Award annually celebrates the accomplishments of women in safety who have paved the way to success for other women in the profession.
